From first device to full setup
A practical route from one secure workstation to a complete, supportable business system.
Start with the work
Choose a business-grade device around the applications, mobility and performance the work actually requires. Record who owns it, configure a separate user account and avoid building the business around a personal device.
Secure the device
Turn on full-disk encryption, multi-factor authentication, managed endpoint protection, automatic updates and a protected administrator account before business information is added.
Create the business identity
Use a company-owned domain, business email and managed Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace account. Keep ownership, recovery details and licences under business control.
Connect and protect
Use reliable broadband, secured Wi-Fi and an appropriate firewall. Add secure remote access only where it is required and make sure cloud data has an independent backup.
Make it repeatable
Document the device, accounts, licences, backup and support route. The same checklist can then be used for every new starter and location.
